Bit of a preventive maintenance question here. My last car left me stranded because the alternator died with zero warning, and I really don't want to go through that again. Now I've got a newer car and I'm paranoid about it. Someone mentioned that you can catch problems early by checking voltage regularly, which I'd never even thought about. I came across some Alternator maintenance advice from Al Zaabi Auto Care that suggested a few simple checks, and it made me realize I've been ignoring this whole system for years. So my question is, how often do you guys actually check yours? Is it a monthly thing or just when something feels off? And is there anything I can do to extend the life of the alternator beyond just hoping for the best?
